Sam's Giardino in Swakopmund, on Namibia's central Skeleton Coast, is a small guesthouse catering for individual travellers who value experiencing life's best facets, from exquisite food and wine to natural surroundings.

I, Samuel Egger, together with my trained service team of Namibians extent a warm welcome to 'hospitality with a touch of heart' in best Swiss tradition.

Our comfortable en-suite rooms for guest accommodation, lush gardens and cosy lounges fit for relaxation and socialising, our outstanding restaurant services, stimulating libraries of great books and videos, as well as offerings of inspiring activity options are all designed to nurture body, mind and soul.

Sam's Giardino stands for sound values and for understated sophistication, letting our guests find real quality where it matters.

Accommodation

Guest rooms at Sam's Giardino are feature-packed and convenient to use, if occupied by one or two guests each. The floor-space of each room is of average size and assigned to different functions in generous portions so that our guests' belongings are easily accommodated too without cramping living spaces. We aimed for practical answers to the limitations of a modern urban setting. Creating livable outdoor spaces and functional lounges for our visitors in addition to bedrooms took preference in the architectural design.

Over recent years, we saw far more families staying with us than we had ever anticipated. Our standard rooms can accommodate one extra single bed only. So we created a really spacious Family Room sleeping up to 4.

The décor and features of our guest rooms are oriented on the tastes, requirements and expectations of our mostly European clientele.

The mostly debated of our decisions amongst visitors from Namibia and neighbouring countries is the fact that television can only be watched in the TV lounge and the Family Room but not in other guest rooms.

The features found in all our guest rooms are however well exceeding the standards expected in our NTB registration category of a Hotel-Pension/Guesthouse.

2m-long beds with down-feather duvets, linen from mostly natural materials, and individually controllable bed-side lamps providing excellent reading light.

Built-in safes, WLAN (Wireless Internet), small lounge area for two per room, dual shower-heads per bathroom, European & SA style power outlets.

Ongoing renovation and upgrade works may lead to larger improvement projects not being done in all rooms at the same time. We do not close Sam's Giardino for holidays and maintenance but work around the availability of often imported materials to do what needs doing while ensuring, at the same time that guests are not inconvenienced.

Restaurant

The restaurant at Sam's Giardino, the Enoteca, with a cosy bar and the Grotto, doubles as a day room for our guests, between meal times. Here you may enjoy a cup of coffee, tea or a chilled drink while writing postcards to your loved ones at home and planning your next activities.

On request, we also prepare light meals and snacks for in-between.

The Enoteca Restaurant is open all day.

Breakfast

A warm atmosphere and the irresistible smell of freshly percolated coffee greet you when you enter the Enoteca, in the morning for breakfast available from 7h00.

You don't have to miss out on our sumptuous breakfast buffet and eggs to order either when sleeping in. Everything will be there until 11h00.

Dinner

Like with breakfast, our daily 5-course gourmet dinner is inspired by Swiss and other continental European cuisine and incorporates fresh regional produce, depending on season, like fish from the Atlantic Ocean, green asparagus from the Swakop River Valley, greens and fruit from local and South African orchards, and herbs picked from our own gardens.

The professional food presentation is complemented by offers of selected wines and beautifully laid out tables.

Dinner is an optional service for house guests of Sam's Giardino and requires prior booking, until 16h00 on the same day.

The Grotto, our walk-in wine cellar, is open for dinner only and a wonderful location for celebrating a special occasion or enjoying an intimate dinner with family and friends.
